Day 2, 4th April : Leave for Bhuntar at 11am and do the road trip via Jalori Pass into Kullu valley. Road trip is 150kms and takes 8-9 hours due to narrow roads.

Day 3, 5th April : Leave for Prashar lake at 9am and reach prashar by noon. Camp and relax there. See the sunset.

Day 4, 6th April : Leave for Delhi around 9am. Reach Delhi by 10pm.

To know the exact details just go through the entire post below.

Day 1, 3rd April ’15

After an over night journey of 430kms coming out to a total of 9 hours travel we reached Narkanda

We Checked in around 11 @ Hattu Valley Home stay (9817196808). It is going to become a guest house soon. This home stay was 500 mtrs from the start of Hatu peak climb.

Activity of the day (Trekking) : We rested and had lunch at our home stay. The family was nice and served tasty food. We then started the climb to Hatu peak around 2:30pm. We did first 3 kms in our car (Polo). The climb is very steep and narrow so go slow. After 3 kms there was snow and we had to walk on foot. Do carry a rain coat always and wear warm, water proof shoes. I had Merell Moab Goretex mid ankle for protection.

We saw this beautiful Hatu Mata temple but could not see the 360* view from here because of fog. We started our descent after enjoying for 15mins.

We reached our home stay around 7:30pm, relaxed and slept early by 10pm

Day 2, 4th April ’15

We Slept too much and left for Bhuntar around 11am or so. We actually wanted to camp at Prashar lake but we knew Jalori pass will be slow and messy. It will take a minimum of 8-9 hours to reach Bhuntar but we still went on with an open mind.

Activity of the day (Roadtrip) : The road takes you through an amazing valley called the Kullu valley. You see blue waters of beas river and tall trees.

Beautiful waterfall after Jalori Pass

Bridge after Jalori Pass

The Descend from Jalori pass is very slow and full of Mud. Also there is an extreme drop in altitude and hence brakes are pressed hard. It is EASY TO BURN YOUR BRAKES so make sure you use engine braking while descending. We burnt our brakes on the way down and had to take a break.

So we reached bhuntar at 9pm and checked into a hotel for night stay.

Day 3, 5th April

We left for Prashar lake at 9am. It is a 55kms drive which takes 2 hours or so. But we got two obstacles, one was a broken bridge due to which we had to cross the road through waterfall and second was local villagers cutting tree hence blocking the road.

We reached Prashar lake by 11:30. There was no trekking needed at this time of the year and we parked next to Prashar lake. We had lunch and camped. As soon as we camped , hail storm started with thunder.

We could not sleep well in this night as temperatures plummeted to around 0* or -1* celcius. We wore all clothes and still could not sleep properly in our tents.

Day 4, 6th April

This day is about going back to Delhi. But before that we saw an amazing sunrise

While we headed back we saw once in a lifetime view of a 22* Halo around the sun.

We kept heading back towards Delhi via Mandi-Shimla-Delhi. We did not take the regular route as roads were broken badly so we went via Shimla and it took 13 hours to reach Delhi.

Thus it was a short trip with everything that one could ask for. We got to see snowfall while climbing Hatu peak, we saw a hectic Jalori Pass, we went through a beautiful Kullu Valley, we saw magical Prashar lake and we saw a lovely sunrise and sunset.
